But shit happened. Life is a rollercoaster and you don’t get warning, when there’s a looping ahead. Shrimp House doesn’t exist anymore. And, so it seems, my biography has to be rewritten.

But don’t worry. Incidentally, this is no web-diary. This is a music site.

So, instead of long explanations and private stories – here’s a new song, which tells more than a 1000 words, literally…

About the video
What looks like a stop motion animated movie, is – believe it or not – a slideshow! A 7.488 single pictures have been shot by Phillipp Toscani (eighty3.org) and his team with a digital photo camera and put together on a computer afterwards.
The final clip has been awarded at the “Film- und Videodays Vienna 2005″ and returned to the big screen at the “Screensession Festivals” this year. (Btw, the jury also mentioned the elaborate sound design, which I did – where else? – at my ShrimpHouse-Studio )

About the track
“I.M.” (Working Title) is an early demo version of my track “Witout A Way (Yeah Yeah Yeah)”, which I am mxing into the final version right now. Those of you who eventually are going to purchase my upcoming Mini-EP “My Future Ego” this fall – there might be some lines, you’re gonna recognize…

Freestyle rap is an improvisational form of rapping, performed with few or no previously composed lyrics, which is said to reflect a direct mapping of the mental state and performing situation of the artist. It is non-scripted, non-rehearsed, uncut, and the rawest form of hip-hop.
Freestyle rapping forces an individual to think on the spot, describe their surroundings, and, to a certain degree, rap uncensored from what is inside. It is similar in this sense to improvisational music or acting and draws comparisons to improvisational jazz in particular.

Yep, dudes!
Freestyle is the true mastery of hiphop. It is the origin of all rap – the ability to transform thoughts into rhymes. Probably the most important skill of an MC. To make a long story short: I just don’t get it.

But the rest of my crew does.

Today is the birthday of one of the most talented rappers and singers I know – the one and only Ease!

So here comes a one-time autlawmusic-exclusive: my personal musical greeting card from here straight down to Barcelona, where Ease is spending his days writing lyrics alongside the Spanish beaches…

Er… and, yes, this DOES sound like a track by Jack Johnson – because his latest album is one of Ease’s absolute favourites (btw, a big thank you to the guys at the Sound & Recording magazine for publishing their “Let’s-Make-A-Jack Johnson”-workshop right on time).

The Story To The Song
This is a track for cineasts. At least when it comes to discover all of the movie samples hidden between the lines by Sliver. There are 14, if you wonder. One might say, this Autlaw-Production uses the DVD-Player as an instrument, just like a synthesizer or drum computer. “Aufnahme läuft” is also the very first cooperation of Sliver and Autlaw.

The Protestsong-Contest
After the success of Autlaw’s A Gringo Like Me at the 1. Protestsong-Contest by radio fm4 three years ago, we thought, we’d might give it another try in 2007. And though we didn’t make it to the finals, “Aufnahme läuft” at least reached the semi finals at the “Haus der Begegnung”, Vienna, and received airplay on fm4 for several weeks.

That’s that.
But now, as I promised, a piece of real “live flava” – especially for those of you, who haven’t seen Sliver live on stage yet: we proudly present the fabulous Team H-Town feat. Sliver and “Aufnahme läuft” at the Derwisch, Vienna, in 2007.
